Star Health’s mediclaim policy dedicated to cancer patients

CHENNAI: Private sector medical insurer, Star Health and Allied Insurance Company on Thursday said it has launched a dedicated health cover policy for cancer patients The product -Star Cancer Care Gold -is designed to offer cover for a sum insured of Rs 3 lakh and Rs 5 lakh, wherein, in an eventuality of somebody getting cancer recurrence the policy will pay Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 2.5 lakh respectively as a lump sum payment.
The premium ranges from Rs 17,000 to Rs 28,000 a year depending the age and coverage, the company said.
Another feature is that there is no pre-medical screening and the maximum entry age is 65 years.
Post payment of claim for cancer recurrence, the coverage for surgical and medical management will continue, Star Health said.
“For the first time in Indian Insurance history, we are offering a health insurance cover for those who have already suffered from cancer and got cured,” said chairman and managing director of Star Heath V Jagannathan.
One of the important features is that the coverage is not only against cancer recurrence, it also includes regular medical coverage, for example surgical as well as medical management, he said.
